ORNITHOLOGY FROM BIRD WINGS TO CAR WINGS

The wings symbolize dynamism, liberation and creative force. This symbol also echoes with this project, because it represents my choice of visual artist as my main occupation.

In 1994, I created a work with jeep wings. At the time, this work represented the idea that music gives wings. I had placed three car wings that suggested a sound box with an oil glaze to give the effect of a double bass.

  

This time, recycling and ornithology are at the service of the work. I expose the second life of a consumer society.  I create analogies like: car wings / bird wings, lightness / heaviness, rigidity / flexibility, car carcass / bird carcass. It is a pictorial approach on car wings taken in auto parts recycling centers. 

 

John Chamberlain, an abstract expressionist, used auto parts in his works. He was my inspiration for this series. Each of my sculptures is named after a bird. I used a shape, a texture, a color of the represented species.
